6 tips to help you choose the right pen
Tip #1 : Try before you buy!
If possible, try before you buy. It has to suit you! Everyone is different, so what is right for one may not be right for you. If you don’t feel comfortable, useless to buy an ergonomic, good-looking or trendy pen, you won’t enjoy using it and eventually leave it aside.
Tip #2 : Neither too big nor too small
Your pen should be adapted to the size of your hand and your fingers. So, if you or your child has a small hand, don’t take a big pen, pencil or felt-tip pen. Indeed, this would promote a palmar grip (with the palm of the hand) and the fingers will lose mobility.
Tip #3 : The pencil is ideal for beginners.
To start learning to write, a pencil is the most suitable. It is erasable and does not bleed! I recommend favoring triangular pencils with a good lead quality. Some mechanical pencils are also very well designed and will help you better manage the pressure you exert on the sheet.
Tip #4 : Abandon the 4-color bic pen

Tip #5 : Ergonomics first
Are you left-handed? Some pens are more ergonomics for left-handed people and promote good grip and better comfort. Do not neglect them.
Tip #6 : Adapt the choice according to your writing experience
A child and an adult will not have the same needs or requirements regarding the choice of pen.
- Thus, children in primary school appreciate fine felt-tip pens (if the exerted pressure is mastered) or rollers. They offer good glide and some erase like fountain pens.
- I do not recommend friction pens, their ink flow is not regular and varies according to their inclination.
